Day 1

I can’t help but to feel slightly lonely. I’m surrounded by people who are all with other people, speaking their language to each other laughing and smiling. Some hugging and you can tell they are in love by the way they look at each other. So I’m reminded at every glance that I am alone which is what I planned, but I didn’t expect to feel so alone. I think on my life and how I am approaching 30 next week and I think about how long at this age it would take me to find the right one open up to him and bare my whole heart all over again. We are talking at least 5–7 years…now we are approaching 40! Kids? Career? Traveling with the family?? I haven’t given up but the hopes are getting lower and lower.

On my way to the hotel in the shuttle I noticed the trees and the birds first, the the first sign that your getting older. Next I noticed the roads and I quickly became grateful that I did not rent a car. They are narrow and confusing, lots of one ways and two lane roads that have the opposite traffic coming your way.

The immediate area around my hotel is your typical European cobblestone streets lined with apartments atop and restaurants, stores, bars and cafes below. You can hear the bellow laughter roar from atop while you walk through the narrow alleys. It’s exactly what I hoped to see and I couldn’t be more in love with the feeling of walking on the cobblestone and looking around at everything. Even the rain adds to the European charm in my mind.

I noticed here that race is not a immediate factor when you first see someone like it is in America. It’s a sense of belonging no matter who you are or where your from. Although I do not speak the native language which is German, almost everyone I have spoke to speaks perfect English. It’s nice. It’s been roughly 6 hours since I have stepped foot on Switzerland ground but I can tell already that I absolutely love travel abroad.

Day 2

Still feeling slightly lonely, but happy. I walked for hours today trying to find someplace that felt good. Nothing stuck. The people are nice and welcoming but I haven’t got that spark feeling since being here. The beer is good, the wine is better, the cheese is tasteful needless to say, they have cheese at every corner. It’s fun, I guess I never thought I would make it, here outside of America. Here I am, living it and I’m nervous at every step which is annoying because I have wanted this for so long!
